Transforming Lives Through Automotive Skills

At Peer Pressure Mentoring, we focus on providing veterans, parolees, and youth in foster care or the juvenile system with valuable automotive training. Our program aims to inspire self-sufficiency and positive life choices by teaching practical skills in both vehicle maintenance and self-maintenance. Join us to make a meaningful impact and help others redirect their life's path to focus on building themselves and their community. 

About the Summer Program

Our program covers the operation, performance standards and inspection procedures of automobile systems.  


40 Hour Training Week: Automotive Tech Program


Participants will learn: 

1. Introduction to Automotive Repair & Diagnostics

2. Automotive Recycling

3. Automotive Shop Management

4. Customer Service Skills

6. Entrepreneurship Skills

7. Mental Health Wellness


We prepare our community for entry-level employment in the Automotive Industry and Management Positions.

Summer Program Objectives:

Students will be able to-

  •  Identify the hand and power tools, properly handle servicing equipment, and diagnostic equipment used in evaluations, as well as explain the procedures required to safely use each item.
  • Repair and maintain automobiles. Describe the various engine types, body styles, and drive systems that are used to classify cars and small trucks.
  • List the steps that must be followed during a standard vehicle inspection. Being able to describe the specifications that determine safe-vehicle conditions during each step.
  • Identify the standard parts of the engine, and corresponding systems (such as electronic, lubrication and cooling, steering and suspension etc.) for common automobiles and small trucks. 
  • Do basic car maintenance such as alignments, tire mounting and balancing, oil changes, and brake systems.


Goals and Partnerships

Students that successfully complete the Peer Pressure Summer Training Program will be accepted into an apprenticeship program at Jex Auto Repair, LLC. Where students will learn additional skills, such as:

- How to Process Inventory

- Budgeting and Business Expenses

- Payroll System

 Our trainee to employee apprenticeship program will provide the trainee with job security and an opportunity to build on their newly learned skills.

Our organization will partner with salvage yards to get donated vehicles that will be used during the training program.
